This is what you want when you're chasing a league title.
The ability to control your own fate.
Two teams that split their first two games, play the rubber match today at Monte Vista locked in a tie for first in the Monterey Bay League at 12-2.
The Mustangs have the distinction of having ended reigning nine-time MBL champion Monterey's run of 27 straight league wins at Monte Vista on March 21.
The Toreadores bounced back with a six-inning 13-3 win, prompting a longer than usual hand shake among the two coaches.
This is a rivalry that has grown over the years as Monte Vista's program has developed.
Of course, today does not decide the title. Both teams still have a game with Christopher, who is locked in a tie at the top with Monte Vista and Monterey.
