The former Monterey High pitching ace has lowered his earned run average at San Jose State to 3.55.
The left-handed Russo has made 13 appearances and seven starts on the bump for the Spartans, striking out 25 in 38 innings of work.
Russo, who is 2-2, has faced 136 hitters, giving up just one home run.
