The first of three games between the co-leading Mustangs and Christopher today could open the door for nine-time defending Monterey Bay League champion Monterey.
Monterey, who sits one game back, split its first two games with both teams, sending Christopher to its first MBL loss last Friday.
While Monterey still controls its own fate, seeing Monte Vista and Christopher split their two games this week could create a three-way tie, with each team having one more meeting with each other.
Monterey, who is 9-0 at home this year, visits Monte Vista on May 2 before hosting Christopher in its MBL finale on May 9.
