The Santa Clara University right fielder leads the Western Coast Conference in hitting at .426. Hitting in the No. 3 spot of the order, Herbst also leads the conference in hits (29), runs scored (20) and triples (4).
Herbst, who prepped at Monterey, is fifth in the nation in hits and second in triple. Santa Clara is off to its best start in a decade at 13-4.
