Palma football

Two arguments that the CCS could make for Palma when the state bowl berths are announced on Sunday is its strength of schedule and the program's playoff history.
I don't think there is any doubt that the Chieftains would have already taken part in a Division III state title game had they not played in the CCS's Open Division.
Palma's only loss in 2010 was in the CCS playoffs. Its only two losses in 2006 were to De La Salle and Palo Alto in the CCS semifinals. Palo Alto went on to the Division I state title game.
Of course, we are talking about this year, not the past.

Thay will make that argument, but their schedule wasn't better than marin Catholics who defeated D2 SJS chamion vacaville and CCS DIII champs SI. Campolindo if they win NCS D3 will have defeated Marin catholic, which is one of the top ranked teams in northern CA and Cardinal Newman which Palma tied. It is a complete waste of time as I mentioned earlier for Palma to practice other than if they want to put closure on the season and position for next season. What would be an interesting topic is what will be some of the top nonleague games next season? There are many games that need to be filled. Alo, next seasons' state play-in round....how will that impact game scheduling? Also, one coach for the upcoming CCS meeting wants to discuss wheere to put privates (mainly WCAL, Palmas for playoffs next season)? Should there be a separate private playff? Will the Open divivon even exist next season?

All good points. Here is betting the Open Division will not exist in the CCS as it is now next year. But how about letting teams opt into any of the higher divisions?

The CCS meeting will be very interesting. I would like to see the Open Division go (since CIF change the crieteria for seeding divisions from the original way- went from enrollment to by divivon playoff classification. I agree that Opt ups should be alllowed, and may protect DIV CC playoff fom A league privates (e.g., WCAL and Palma). The D3 CC playoff can include these A league privates which is reasonable since they compete in A leagues, and they would have the option of Opting up if it would help their shot at opting up or staying down if it would help their shot at a SB play-in game. I think this type system can work and it seems the WCAL and power publics could help the case to get rid of the Open division. It will be interesting to hear the cases made by Los Gatos and Leland and other publics battle with the WCAL, Palma and the Oak Groves, etc. Could be another Thrilla in Manilla."
