I can see why Monterey was pushed into the upper division of the Monterey Bay League next fall. All of its skilled players -- playmakers -- will be back next year.
But can Monterey replace its beef in the trenches? That was the cornerstone of an offense that rushed for nearly 3,000 yards.
And how long can a team with a roster under 30 players compete in a league where the average roster hovers over 50 players? Depth is an issue when players go both ways.
I can see this move working for one year.
