We all wondered how the defending MBL champion Toreadores would respond after being humbled in their league opener by Christopher.
What followed was a six-game winning streak, including wins over previously unbeaten Monte Vista and arch rival Seaside -- to grab a share of the MBL title.
I wouldn't say Monterey overachieved. But this was a team that had to fill 14 starting positions when the year started with just 28 players.
The reward is a move to the MBL's 'A' division next year. Final grade: A minus.
