You have to like the attitude Soledad is taking into its first ever playoff game against Palma.
Instead of saying why us, the Aztecs are saying why not us?
First-year head coach Frankie Berlanga wants his kids to relish playing against one of the top Division IV teams in the state.
Palma will wear Soledad down with its physical presence.
But keep this in mind: When Soledad played Carmel, at one point the game was 6-6. The Aztecs were also within a touchdown of tying the game midway through the second quarter.

I don't see Palma winning 60-6, because at least Palma will take their starters out early and at the least the second and third team guys will get some woork and the Soledad players won't be humiliated. The fact is Soledad will not have a shot in this one.
I am a Soledad fan and i agree that Palma is a very good team. I think that the biggest thing that the Aztecs can take out of this game is that they will understand what it takes to be a top Football program going foward. With this type of Playoff Experience, The Soledad Football program will be in a better posistion Compete for MTAL titles. After 12 years of dissapointing years of Aztec football this group of young men have brought pride and relevance to their school and community. At the end of the day this football team has exceeded our expectations.
Agree. Soledad has had a great year and should be proud. They should get something out of the game as you mention an I think it will be a learning experience. I don't see palma blowing them out due to what is mentioned above. Actually I think parts of the game could be pretty close as far as when Palma puts its second and third teams in. The probelme Soledad will have with palma's first team will be it's offensive line which is among the best in the section and Palma's first team defense which is very tough. Once the substitution starts, Soledad will match up better and actually could be a great experience if the score is discounted. I'm sure Soledad will play their hardest and palma will as well with exception the teams will match up better later. Hopefully next season the CCS restructures and at least at the small school divivon excludes any A league private teams (eg. WCAL and Palma). Palma should at least be in D3 where they would still be a candidate for state D3. In CCS D3 you have Valley Christian and Sacred Heart cathedral which are more at the level palma should play against. Carmel should be in that division as well as far as level of play. I am impressed with what Soledayd has done and it would be great if they are similar to the old Gonzales teams that had great teams and a great atmosphere and spirit at the games. I played in som of those and were great memories-the sausage sandwiches I still have dreams about...can't find nything that good unless you head to that area.
