Sacred Heart Cathedral dropped its last three games to finish 2-5 in the West Catholic Athletic League and 5-5 overall.
What got my attention, though, was the Irish's battle with state-ranked and 9-1 Bellarmine earlier this year. Sacred Heart held a 7-0 lead before the Bells used two fourth-quarter touchdowns to escape with a 14-7 decision.
I don't know if there is such a thing as a bad team in the WCAL, which explains why seven of the eight teams are in the playoffs.
Sacred Heart Cathedral did beat Terra Nova, which is in the Open Division playoffs.
The last time the Irish reached the playoffs in 2008, they won the CCS Division IV title.
