Sitting at 666 career wins, the Salinas boys basketball coach can move to within one win of tying the Central Coast Section career win record on Tuesday when the Cowboys open the season, hosting Aptos.
If the Cowboys win, Chappell can tie the CCS boys mark on Dec. 5 when Salinas hosts Soledad. He would likely break the record at the Santa Cruz Dads' Tournament.
