Extended postseason

 The CIF Federated Council voted to change the format of the State Championship Football Bowl games for 2012.
 The change calls for two section champions from their respective divisions in Northern California to meet for a spot in the state championship.
 The two teams will be determined by the Section Commissioners  — meaning only two of the four section champions from their respective divisions in Northern California will move on.
 However, had this taken effect two years ago, Carmel likely would have played Marin Catholic for a spot in the Division IV State Championship.
