Mercy rule for football

 The California Interscholastic Federation has approved a statewide mercy rule for football this fall, in which a running clock will be enforced at the start of the fourth quarter if a team is up by 35 or more points.
 In addition, a running clock could begin earlier in the game if a team is up by 35 or more points -- if both coaches mutually agree.
