Ben Omoto

The Monterey Peninsula lost an icon in sports with the passing of Ben Omoto on Sunday.
Omoto had spent the last 40 plus years coaching baseball at Monterey High, and 55 years coaching youth baseball and basketball on the peninsula.
Omoto, a 1947 Monterey High graduate, helped bring the Bronco World Series to Monterey and was the City of Monterey Sports Supervisor for over 30 years.
Omoto gained strength in being around kids.

Coach Ben was a great person. He loved working with young people and loved Monterey High. It was a pleasure to know him and be around him. Rest in Peace Coach.
