Gonzales
 Once again depth and size are an issue at Gonzales.
 The Spartans carried 19 players last year. The hope is 23 will be on the varsity this fall. Only a handful are over 200 pounds.
 Then again, that was the case last year. Gonzales was involved in four games decided by nine points or less during last season's 3-7 campaign -- going 1-3 in those battles.
 Moses Gonzales was 5-of-7 as a backup quarterback last year. He'll inherit the job this spring. But last year's top four receivers have all graduated.
 Nevertheless, the program showed some life last year, enough to create optimism for at least one more win than last year.
