While 11 county teams will take part in Carmel's 7-on-7 passing camp on Saturday, Monterey will compete in a three-day full contact defensive camp starting Thursday at Watsonville High.
The camp is run by Nevada Union High coach Dave Humphers. Monterey coach Tom Newton felt the camp was a springboard to the Toreadores ride to an MBL title and CCS finals appearance last fall.
When Monterey gets on the field offensively, it will have an entire new backfield.
