Here are a few names to ponder.
Melanie Hong, Carmel: Went to the state championships in cross country. Set a school record in reaching the CCS finals in track in the 1,600. Started in soccer.
Anna Welsh, Monterey: A two-time MBL cross country champion, who reached the state meet. Ran the fastest 3,200 meters in the CCS in track.
Julia Ashen, North Salinas: The Herald's MVP in volleyball. Also earned all-county honors in basketball.
Jessica Davis, King City: All-leaguer in basketball and track, she reached the CCS finals in the 100 hurdles and high jump. Also started on the volleyball team.
Mariel Busch, Notre Dame: Earned all-county honors in volleyball. She was an all-leaguer in volleyball and track and started in basketball.
Annie Aldrete, Santa Catalina: Earned all-county honors in softball. Was an all-leaguer in basketball and softball. Started in volleyball as a sophomore.
Marie Aiello, Pacific Grove: A starter in volleyball, basketball and softball. She was an all-leaguer in basketball.
