All-star alternative

There is a high school all-star baseball game on Saturday.
Filling out rosters with players that couldn't start for their own teams isn't an all-star game.
Last year the annual affair saw the peninsula all-star coach take players from the valley squad just to play the game.
Here's a thought.
There's a two-week break during the spring where league play goes on a hiatus.
Move the affair into that slot. Instead of seniors only, open it up to players having the best season. Turn it into a true mid-spring classic.
 Provide coaches a date months in advance so there is no conflict. Not a week before the game. I guarantee interest would be at an all-time high.
