Not only was spanking Oak Grove 7-1 a confidence builder on Wednesday, but seeing CCS Division I top seed St. Francis eliminated by No. 16 Carlmont put the Cowboys in a good position.
Salinas, who might be playing its best baseball of the season, will face Carlmont on Saturday with a chance to reach the CCS semifinals for the first time since Xavier Nady roamed the Cowboy field.
Plus, dating back to 2000, Salinas is 0-5 against teams from the West Catholic Athletic League in the playoffs.
The only chance Salinas could face a WCAL team now would be in the finals.
