A six-inch improvement in the pole vault on Friday from Tenney Shaffer has moved her into the top seven in the Central Coast Section.
The Salinas junior will go into Friday's TCAL finals as the favorite. The Monterey County record is 11-7, set by Gonzales' Kate Almond in 2005.
