Not only is Salinas coach Joe Chappell closing in on the Central Coast Section record of 668 wins, but he's also seven wins shy of 700 for a career.
Chappell spent three years at San Leandro before becoming the Salinas coach in 1971.
Chappell is four wins away from tying the CCS mark. Salinas has won 14 in a row heading into Wednesday's battle at North Salinas.

Who holds the record? Great accomplishment and also great that coach has spent most of his career at Salinas.
