An emphasis on defense has propelled both the Carmel boys and girls basketball teams to MTAL titles this year.
Both can close the MTAL season tonight undefeated with wins over Greenfield.
The fact that both won titles this year is not a surprise. At least one blogger projected them to run off with MTAL titles.
But the similarities of the two programs is impressive.
The girls program has allowed just 814 points this year while the boys have given up 936.
The girls have 20 wins -- including a 19-game winning streak. The boys will make it 20 with a win tonight -- including 15 straight.
So are both geared for a long postseason run?
Good question.
There weren't a lot of tight games in league play.
