Olympian Monica Abbott has signed a contract to pitch for the Chicago Bandits of the National Pro Fastball League.
Abbott, who spent time last year pitching in Japan, also threw for the Tennessee Diamonds last summer, striking out 146 in 115 innings, compiling an 0.79 earned run average.
The North Salinas product helped Team USA to a silver medal in the 2008 Summer Olympics. She was a four-time All-American at the University of Tennessee, setting NCAA career records for wins (183) and strikeouts (2,345).
