I really like the way Carmel is playing defense. In four MTAL games, it's allowing 32.4 points a game. On Friday, it held Pacific Grove to one field goal in the first and third quarters.

Salinas is playing at another level right now. It just beat an athletic Alvarez squad by 32 points. Mitchell Johnson is providing a nice compliment to Frank Rogers on the outside.

Seaside and Watsonville are on a collision course. Both will likely be undefeated in the MBL when they meet on Wednesday in Watsonville.

Greenfield went on the road and beat defending MTAL champion Santa Catalina by 10 in girls basketball. While it sits at 2-2, both losses were by a combined three points.
