Carmel and Seaside were set to play each other -- for about three minutes, even exchanged film at Sunday's CCS seeding meeting in San Jose.
But because league rivals Sacred Heart Prep and King's Academy can't play each other in the first round, Seaside got moved into the No. 7 spot.
As a result, top seed Carmel will now face No. 8 King's Academy while Seaside will have to travel to face No. 2 Sacred Heart Prep.
It's still possible the two Peninsula powers could collide. But now it would have to be in the CCS Division IV finals.
