Has anyone had a better two-year run in his first two seasons as a head coach over the last two decades than Carmel's Golden Anderson?
With the Padres chasing a second straight CCS Division IV title on Saturday, Anderson is 23-1 in his first two years as a head coach.
Jeff Carnazzo was 23-2-1 in his first two years at Palma -- with two CCS Open Division titles.
As for consecutive games without a setback over the last 10 years, Anderson had a streak of 13 straight to start his career.
Former Pacific Grove coach Buck Roggeman won 12 straight in 2001, and Carnazzo went 11 straight games without a loss this year. Former Stevenson coach Jeff Young won 10 straight in 2000.
Monterey's Tom Newton has won nine straight going into Saturday's CCS Division III title game and Seaside's Al Avila won eight in a row in 2006.
