No rhyme or reason and no excuses in stumbling to 7-3 last week other than loyalty, putting the season record at 50-11.
Tonight's games
North County at Monterey, 7:30 p.m.: I didn't feel North County could maintain its record setting pace for points. Now I don't see how anyone can stop them. Pick: North County.
Watsonville at Seaside, 7:30 p.m.: The loss of Jovahn Lualemana will be felt more on defense than offense for the Spartans. But not this week. Pick: Seaside.
Palma vs. North Salinas at Sports Complex, 7:30 p.m.: It's been over two decades since the Vikings beat Palma. Current North Salinas coach Steve Zenk was a part of that run as a player at Palma. Pick: Palma.
Alisal at Gilroy, 7:30 p.m.: The Trojans have played better on the road. In fact, their only win came outside Monterey County. Pick: Alisal.
Alvarez at Salinas, 7:30 p.m.: I see four teams from the TCAL making the playoffs. Alvarez is undefeated in the Salinas city limits while the Cowboys are winless. Pick: Salinas.
Stevenson at King City, 7:30 p.m.: No one likes traveling to south county. The Mustangs have won three straight. Yet, no one is talking about King City. Pick: Stevenson.
Greenfield at Pacific Grove, 7:30 p.m.: The Bruins defense has allowed 22 points in their four wins. The Breakers are 10-1 lifetime against Greenfield. Pick: Greenfield.
Gonzales vs. Marina at MPC, 7:30 p.m.: You have to appreciate the effort each week of an undermanned Marina squad. Pick: Gonzales.
Saturday's game
Soledad at Carmel, 2 p.m.: Dismissing its coach on Monday has once again left the Soledad program in a state of disarray. Pick: Carmel.
