Carmel graduate Jonny Craft reached the quarterfinals of the Coldwater Classic in Santa Cruz, one of the more prestigious surfing events on the circuit, finishing in the top eight.
Craft, who still lives in Carmel, knocked off several world class surfers from outside the United States.
