Is this the year of the sophomore?
Palma has six in its starting lineup, including 6-foot-6 Noah Allen - who goes both ways -- and 6-foot-5 Jack Powers, one of the area's top linebackers.
Carmel has five sophomores seeing significant time, including tailback Garrett McGuire, who has two 100 plus yard rushing efforts.
Joseph Jakubowky has over 400 receiving yards on 21 catches for Seaside, while Pacific Grove is a different team with quarterback Kyle Czaplak behind center.
One tandem worth watching over the next two falls is Alvarez quarterback Michael Turner and receiver Deandre Sheppard.

Just an FYI: Jack Powers is a defensive lineman in the 4-4 (alongside fellow sophomore Hidelv Manzur), not a linebacker (going to be a good player though - as will all the sophs). Seniors Robert Foy and Blair Gardiner lead the Palma linebacking corp, alongside juniors Ryan Sarmiento, Nick Ruiz and Jack Myers. Palma has 7 sophomores playing on varsity, not 6.
