Saturday morning thoughts

Statement game: Sending a signal that the defending MBL champions are not going down without a fight, Seaside knocked Monte Vista from the unbeaten ranks with a 27-21 win.
Most impressive: Palma racking up a season high 42 points in clinching its 27th straight playoff berth.
Most important: Capturing its fifth straight game, King City improved to 4-0 in the MTAL with a 19-7 win over Pacific Grove.
Most disappointing: North Salinas showing no life in falling 31-0 to San Benito.
Inspirational effort: Seaside's Alex Hodge, who will bury his father today, batted down one pass to end a drive, recovered a fumble to halt another, and had a tackle on fourth down in the final minute to stop a potential game-winning drive.
