Hartnell (0-3) at Los Medanos (1-2), 1 p.m.: The Panthers have given up 100 points in their last two games. Last week Hartnell blew a 21-0 first quarter lead. Alvin Jelks is averaging 6.9 yards a carry. The problem is he's had just 35 carries. Quarterback Austin Fales has tossed one interception in 43 attempts. A bright spot on defense for Hartnell has been linebacker Kiero Small, who has 32 tackles and a sack. Los Medanos has been penalized for 286 yards in three games. The team has turned the ball over nine times and given up over 1,000 yards in offense.
Monterey Peninsula College (1-2) at Laney (2-1), 7 p.m.: Tailback Corterlie Anderson has rushed for 543 yards in three games for Laney, averaging a state-leading 14.3 yards a carry. Laney has outscored opponents 20-0 in the first quarter. The Lobos have been involved in two games that have been decided by five points or less. MPC is minus four in turnover ratio. Bret Chernetsky is on pace to catch 70 passes this year. Tailback Kyle Graf is seventh in the state in rushing (332).
