Football notes

North County doesn't have one individual among the top five in any offensive category.
So what.
The bottom line is the Condors are 6-0 and on pace to shatter the Monterey County single-season scoring record, averaging 53 points a game.
Throw A.J. Jimenez into the mix of elite quarterbacks in the county. The senior has thrown just one interception in 66 attempts, while tossing 11 touchdown passes. He has also rushed for eight touchdowns.....
You can't ignore Daniel Breaux's rushing numbers. Through five games, the bruising Greenfield running back has 839 yards on just 60 carries, putting him on pace to break the single-season school record.
Breaux, who has received interest from colleges as a linebacker, is averaging 14 yards each time he lumbers with the ball......
Not only did Seaside lose highly touted tailback Jovahn Lualemana for the year to a broken leg last week, but receiver Joseph Jakubowsky played the entire second half with a broken hand.
Jakubowsky had 11 catches for nearly 150 yards and three touchdowns. He also completed a pass on fourth down with a broken hand to keep a drive alive. Both are starters on defense....
You can't blame King City's defense for intercepting six passes against an undermanned Marina squad and returning three for touchdowns in a 71-0 win.
This is why a running clock needs to be implemented against Marina, who is playing a varsity schedule with a junior varsity roster.

Let me add one more football note to your list.

Through the first 5 games of the 2010 season, Carmel has scored exactly the same number points as they had scored through the first 5 games of last season. (224 points) Of course in the second 5 games in 2009, Carmel scored 298 points, so this years' team will have to go some to stay on pace with last years' results.

However, through 5 games this year, the Carmel offense has gained 2,519 yards (1,091 on the ground and 1,428 through the air.) While in the first 5 games of 2009, Carmel's offense gained fewer yards...2,106 total yards with 1,113 rushing and 993 passing.)

Making this years' numbers more impressive is the fact that through 6 games, the North Monterey County offense has gained fewer yards than Carmel has gained through 5 games. (2,270 vs 2,509)

Should Carmel remain on this pace they will shatter the "record" set in 2007 by Gilroy of 459 yards of offense per game.
