When you start looking at first half MVP's, the names that come up are Carmel quarterback Devin Pearson, Seaside quarterback Ronald Saxton and Pama running back Jack Baird.
But don't ignore North County's Mike Lopez or Greenfield's Daniel Breaux. And don't use a soft schedule as an excuse.
Lopez has rushed for over 500 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also has over 200 receiving yards and a touchdown, and four interceptions, returning two for touchdowns.
Breaux has 840 yards on just 60 carries. That's 14 yards a carry. And he shuts down one side of the field as a defensive end.

When you talk about MVP's for the first half of the season, tops on the list has to be Jovahn Lualemana. He won't be playing the second half of the year, but that does not diminish what he meant to his team and area football in the first half of the season. Jovahn has been a star on both sides of the ball for the last year and a half. One of the very few players in the area in the past dozen years who has been a high impact player on both offense and defense.
In my mind Jovahn was the best player in the area during the first half of the 2010 season. And even though he will miss the second half of the year, I think he deserves VERY serious consideration on both the All County offensive and defensive teams for 2010.
