Raider legend coming to Salinas

Raiders Hall of Fame center Jim Otto will be at Hartnell College on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. to speak about being a cancer survivor, as part of Blue Month.
Otto, one of the greatest centers to play in the NFL, survived a bout with prostate cancer in 2002.
Otto played with the late Tony Teresa, a Hartnell College football and baseball coaching icon, in 1960 with the Raiders.

I had the opportunity to sit directly across the table from Jim Otto for a fund raising dinner years ago, and what a nice person. I am a big fan and he had great stories, and you could tell he was one tough man. Unfortunately, the injuries from his playing days caught up and he is in lots of pain, but that hasn't stopped him from being involved with helping others. He is a great Raider.
