Saturday's games
Hartnell at Modesto, 7 p.m.: The Panthers defense forced four turnovers last week in a 21-14 loss to Mendocino. But Hartnell gave up 562 yards in offense, including 431 passing yards. Last week Modesto put the ball in the air 57 times in a 28-20 loss to Sacramento City. Tailback Ricky Rodwell rushed for 86 yards for Hartnell. Matt Snead caught three passes for 87 yards and a touchdown.
De Anza at MPC, 6 p.m.: At some point, the Lobos need to decide on a quarterback. Using two quarterbacks last year didn't work. Freshman tight end Jake Davis caught three passes for 30 yards and a touchdown. Tailback Kyle Graf rushed for 162 yards in his debut for the Lobos. Defensively, the Lobos didn't create a turnover in a 32-18 loss to Contra Costa. De Anza ran off 21 unanswered points in a 35-9 route of Gavilan. A member of the Golden Gate Conference, last year De Anza was undefeated in the Coast Conference.
