Cal is dropping its baseball program after the 2011 season.
The Bears have had a baseball program on the Berkeley campus since 1892.
Current Cubs first baseman and Salinas graduate Xavier Nady was an All-American at Cal.
And Cal's manager is Dave Esquer, a Palma graduate.
The reason for Cal dropping four programs is it has a $13 million dollar deficit with its athletic program.
