In an effort to please one of my loyal viewers to this blog, here are my surprise football teams for this fall.
Monte Vista Christian, North Salinas and Stevenson.
One more note. Of the three defending league champions from the MBL, TCAL and MTAL, two of them will not start the year 3-0.

Surprise teams...North Salinas wouldn't be a surprise. The juniors as Frosh were the top team in the TCAL (although top player as frosh transferred out) . Coach Zenk has them always working hard. Last season they were young. After next season, it will be tougher for North Salinas for a few years, but can see them competing.
Monte Vista Christian will usually have a potent passingb attack. If they can play defense, they will compete for #2-4 in MBAL
RLS will compete, but not against Carmel.
Of the top 3 teams you mention. Palma has the toughest schedule to go undefeated. I can see them going anywhere from 3-0, 2-1 to 1-2(0-3 unlikely and 2-1 likely). Saint Francis will be tough, but more on scoring against them. They lose all their skill players, but the junior class is special and senors were WCAL champs as JV. St Josephs and Cardinal Newman will be tough, but Palma has a good shot in those games, but will be battles.
Carmel has the easiest shot at going 3-0. Carmel will not be as good as last season, but will be formidable on offense. Monterey will be better than last season, but need to play defense. Saint Francis-Wat will be middle of the pack in SCAL, and Menlo will be decent, but not a top team.
Seaside has a better chance at going 3-0 than Palma, but Salinas, Santa Cruz and Atascadero will be decent teams. If Salinas can play defense, Seaside will have a ery tough game. Atascadero is in same league as St Joe's who Palma plays but will be ranked #2 or 3 in that league (St Joes is favorite). Seasies can defeat both Atascadero or Santa Cruz which will compete for SCAL title. I think Seaside will be either 3-0 or 2-1 in first three games. Salinas will have a good shot at defeating Seaside.
