Tom Cardinale has some larger than life shoes to fill after accepting the Notre Dame softball job.
The program never suffered a losing season in 30 years under Joe Given, winning 12 CCS titles.
There will be pressure to fulfill what has become lofty expectations. A program can't win 30 games every year. Cardinale will have six starters to replace — five of which landed softball scholarships.
Fair or not, comparisons will be drawn.
