One of the reasons Notre Dame moved out of the Mission Trail Athletic League a decade ago was to play in a higher caliber league to prep them for the postseason.
And based on their 10 CCS Division III titles in the last 11 years, it’s worked.
Yet, the Spirits first two opponents in the playoffs this year were Santa Catalina and Stevenson, two teams it used to face in the MTAL.
Over the last five years, Notre Dame has run into an MTAL team in the finals or semifinals four times and won all four games.
