Palma- Salinas baseball

They will be teammates in two years at Cal.
This afternoon, Salinas slugger Nathan Martorella will step into the box against Palma hurler Sam Stoutenborough, as the two rivals get reacquainted in their Gabilan Division opener.
While the game is Salinas' home game, the Washington Middle School field is right across the street from the Chieftains campus.
Palma has won six of the last seven meetings between the teams, outscoring the Cowboys 20-5 on their field last spring.
Stoutenborough is coming off a 10-2 season. While he has allowed just two runs in seven innings of work this year, the right-hander is still looking for his first win.
Dominic Scattini has been a table-setter at the plate for Palma while Vince Flores has had a hit in each of the teams first three games.
Salinas has shown just a small sample size this spring, having played just one game, erupting for six quick runs in a 6-4 win over Paso Robles.
Martorella drove in a team high 32 runs last year for the Cowboys while Mason Hunter knocked in 10 runs. Jordan Lanini was the teams most consistent pitcher last spring.
