It's a fresh start for Alvarez and new football coach David Bottom, who came up from San Diego to take the reigns of a program trying to put last year's nightmare in the rear view mirror.
Three of the Eagles best players transferred to other schools. Yet, Bottom has a core of talent at the lower levels to build off of. Just be patient.
 Bottom has a history of turning programs around.
 I suspect Alvarez will struggle this fall in the revamped MBL's Gabilan Division. The Eagles belong in the Pacific Division. But don't tell them that.
 Six teams on their schedule went to the playoffs last year. Four won league titles. Two played for a CCS title. Expect growing pains.
