Stevenson-Pacific Grove boys hoops

One team kept Pacific Grove from perfection in the Mission Trail Athletic League last winter.
That same team could knock them out of first place tonight when the Pirates travel to Pacific Grove.
Not only is first place at stake as the first half of the league season winds down, but the Breakers have won 25 straight league home games.
The reigning four-time league champion Breakers only MTAL setback last season was a 59-43 loss at Stevenson nearly a year to the day.
Behind Patrick Donohue and Winston Elstob, the Pirates knocked down 18 3-point goals last Friday in winning their third straight game to move into a tie with the Breakers and Carmel at 4-1.
Stevenson might be the best 3-point shooting team in the area with Connor Olin and Ben Abrams also a threat from the outside.
Stunned on the road by Soledad, the Breakers have made a habit out of bouncing back from league losses. Last year it won eight straight league games after absorbing a loss.
And in 2016, Pacific Grove rebounded from a loss to Carmel to reach the Central Coast Section DIV finals, beating Carmel for the title.
Jalen Killian is averaging just under 13 points a game for Pacific Grove while Ian Sinclair Fox has given them a presence in the paint.
The Breakers can also knock down shots from the perimeter as Jack Sendell and sophomore Josh Cryns have combined for 45 3-point goals.
